Central Nicaragua - Agricultural Development Project

Pictured above are pastors and national leaders who work with Chosen Children in the Salinas Grandes area of Nicaragua. These pictures show some of the amazing fall 2009 harvest. In September 2008 and January 2009 agricultural development teams from Catalyst worked with these pastors to assist with soil sampling and basic agricultural teaching. The January 2009 team worked side by side with the Nicaraguans to install two drip irrigation systems, one of the systems is being used at the Salinas location. These systems allow multiple crops to be grown year round, even in the dry season. The ability to grow crops right through the dry season will be a huge benefit to the people.

In concert with Chosen Children and the national pastors, Catalyst wanted to help provide sustainable food not only for the local pastors, but a means for multiplication of this knowledge to local church members and eventually to the community. These pastors are sharing Jesus love and planting churches in barrios in the Northwest corner of Nicaragua. By helping these pastors and communities have food, we feel we are multiplying the Gospel.

Many thanks to the many volunteers, team members and donors who helped make this project possible.
